Community Groups and Activities

Heritage Point of Oklahoma City offers community groups and activities based on understanding the strengths, abilities, interests, and desires of each of our residents.In addition to offering activities based on understanding the strengths, abilities, interests, and desires of each of our residents, we also provide a foundational activities calendar that offer structure, consistency, and support that is so important to people with Alzheimer’s and other memory impairments.

The following are examples of different activities that promote wellness in the different dimensions of a person’s life.  Keep in mind that most activities typically overlap between multiple areas of wellness.

Physical Wellness:

  • Balance and chair exercises
  • Tai Chi, Yoga, and Stretching
  • Sports related activities
  • Dancing activities
  • Gardening or planting flowers

Social Wellness:

  • Interactive parties/social events
  • Singing & music therapy
  • Trivia or discussion groups
  • Spa Day
  • Philanthropic activities

Emotional Wellness:

  • Relaxation activities
  • Discussion and/or support groups
  • Laughter club
  • Engaging nature
  • Animal facilitated therapy
  • Hand massages

Spiritual Wellness:

  • Attending church services & activities
  • Prayer or devotional groups
  • Meditation activities
  • Bible study or readings
  • Other faith-based activities

Intellectual Wellness:

  • Discussion and reminiscence groups
  • Creative expression such as painting
  • Cultural activities and outings
  • Word search and crossword puzzles
  • Politics and current events groups

Occupational (Purposeful) Wellness:

  • Volunteer and philanthropic activities
  • Career or homemaker related activities
  • Resident spotlight groups
  • Assisting with everyday tasks
  • Food committee or Resident Council meeting
